Below you will see the Transdisciplinary Theme that each year group is covering this term and the Central Ideas. Please discuss these with your children as I am sure that they will be very excited to tell you all about what they have been learning.
Year R

Central Idea: Friends and families define and shape who we are.
Year 1

Central Idea: Stories can take on different forms and can be told in many ways.
Year 2
Transdisciplinary Theme: How We Express Ourselves
Central Idea: Celebrations and traditions show what a culture values
Year 3
Transdisciplinary Theme: How We Express Ourselves
Central Idea: Light may be used to express ideas and celebrate cultural events
Year 4

Central Idea: Culture and values of modern Britain may be influenced by diversity and integration.
Year 5

Central Idea: Rituals, traditions and artefacts may provide a window into our beliefs.

We always aim to get the children talking about their Central Idea and encourage them to look in to this at home as well as in school. The following are just a couple of examples of the things that the pupils have been doing to link their learning between home and school. There have been some fantastic family trees created by the children in Year 1, Year R have brought in photos to talk about in class of different celebrations that they have attended this year and pupils in Year 6 have been bringing in and telling us about trips that have been on with their families linked to either World War I or World War II and have also created some models of bomb shelters that can be seen below.
