This week in year 2, we are reading the book 'The Great Fire of London:Unclassified' by Nick Hunter
The Great Fire of London destroyed the homes of almost 90 per cent of London's population. Could it have been prevented? From the outbreak of the fire at a bakery on Pudding lane, to fire fighting techniques and meddling Lord Mayors, The Great Fire Unclassified takes readers on a journey back in time to uncover the true story behind London's most destructive ever fire.

Year 2 Vocabulary
Year 2 Vocabulary
We will be continuing with our focus on the children's vocabulary and 'Expanding Our Vocabulary' every day. This will involve gathering 3 new words each week from our class text and displaying these in each classroom. We will be teaching the spelling and explicit meaning of the words, using them in different contexts, and encouraging children to use these words in their own vocabulary.

Why not practise your times tables at home too, and become a member of the '144 Club'!
Ask your class teacher if you can show them which times tables you know by independently writing these on a piece of paper, or on your whiteboard. Remember, these must be done without any help in school. When you have received a 'target met' sticker for all of your times tables, you become a member of the HIS '144 Club' and earn yourself a special certificate.
