Seating / Environment

• Have desks facing towards the front in pairs or groups. Science tends to have lots of labs, which means students should be sat next to a partner or two to help maximize comfortability with this person.

• Make sure the environment is tidy and clean before and after labs. This will help students stay focused because there will be less distraction.

During conversation

• Students should talk with their partners. This makes them more comfortable with a couple of people who can then introduce them to the rest of the class. Then eventually it will lead to the whole class getting to know each other.

Toolbox

• Have kids answer problems on the whiteboard. Science is a very visual and hands-on work department so this should help kids learn more.

• Guided notes could help students learn vocabulary easier. This will help because Science is a vocabulary heavy department and leaving blanks on guided notes where vocab should be can help students learn the vocab easier.
