Director

Ms. Heien joined Howard-Winneshiek CSD in 2019 as the Junior High and High School School Band Director.  She is originally from Sioux City, IA and holds a Bachelor of Music Degree from the University of Northern Iowa in Instrumental Music Education. During her time at UNI she was a member of many ensembles including the premiere Wind Ensemble and was a Drum Major for the Panther Marching Band. She also was an active member in the national honorary band sorority, Tau Beta Sigma. Ms. Heien actively plays in the Oneota Valley Community Orchestra and the Sioux City Municipal Band and enjoys spending her free time traveling, visiting friends and family, reading, going on bike rides, and exercising.

At Crestwood Ms. Heien directs the 7th/8th Grade Band, High School Concert Band, Marching Band, Pep Band, and Jazz Band. During her time as the Director Bands have earned consistent Division I's and II's at the IHSMA State Marching and Large Group Festivals. She has led trips to Florida, Kansas City, and Adventureland.
