The Robert Caro ’53 Prize for Literary Excellence in the Writing of History
is named after an HM alum, and historian who has spent most of his career studying the life of President Lyndon Johnson. As a result of his work, Caro has twice won Pulitzer Prizes, along with numerous other awards.
The Anthony Lewis Award, named after the Pulitzer prize winning legal journalist and HM alum, recognizes students who’ve made exceptional contributions to the spirit of scholarly engagement both inside and outside the classroom.
The Gordon I. Newcombe Award for Academic Achievement in History is named in honor of a Horace Mann teacher and Head of the Upper School.
