He completed his Masters of Education in Secondary Social Sciences at the University of Montevallo in 2018.
“I learned to love the study of history when I took APUSH here at Hoover High in my 10th grade year. I hope to instill that same love of historical discovery in my students.
APUSH 10 is part one of a two-year course that covers 9 units. We will cover the first 5 units in my class. They are as follows:
Period 1: 1491-1607
Period 2: 1607-1754
Period 3: 1754-1800
Period 4: 1800-1848
Period 5: 1844-1877
Students will begin developing the following Historical Thinking Skills:
Developments and Processes
Sourcing and Situation
Claims and Evidence in Sources
Contextualization
Making Connections
Argumentation
Students taking APUSH 10 should plan to take APUSH 11 in their junior year. APUSH students will sit for the AP U.S. History exam at the end of junior year.”
Mr. Caine recommends candidates for AP U.S. History 10 take either Advanced-Level World History or Pre-IB History 9. AP U.S. History is a two-year course, and students should expect to take AP U.S. History 11 in their junior year.

“APUSH 11 is the second half of a two-year program. It is a college level course, designed to provide students with the analytical skills and factual knowledge necessary to deal critically with the problems in United States History. We look at the chronology and the themes of US history from 1877 to 2000 (if possible!). The class focuses on APUSH thinking and writing skills, content understanding of American history, and supports learners in developing critical thinking.”
Please note that students must take APUSH 10 before taking APUSH 11 as part of the two-year program.
