AP 3-D Art and Design is an introductory college-level three-dimensional design course. The art student who excels in sculpture and/or ceramics will be challenged to refine and apply skills and ideas from previous years to create a cohesive body of work. They will develop as an artist throughout the course to produce focused and mature three-dimensional art with designs centered around a central idea or theme. As their skills and work develop, students will learn how best to convey their ideas through their art, culminating in a final portfolio based around the aforementioned theme. Students may explore materials and processes including but not limited to: sculpture in all its forms, architectural rendering/models, virtual reality, metal work, ceramics, glass, and many more.
Big Idea 1: Investigate Materials, Processes, and Ideas
Big Idea 2: Make Art and Design
Big Idea 3: Present Art and Design

Mr. Pocopanni recommends that students looking to take AP-3D should try to have as many tools in their kit as possible. He recommends the following:
At a minimum: Art 1, Sculpture II, and Ceramics II
Preferred: Ceramics III (Prior to or alongside AP)
