Our Day

Routine

Honywood Preschool believes that care and education are equally important in the experience which we offer children. The routines and activities that make up each session in our setting are provided in ways that:

  • help each child to feel that she/he is a valued member of the setting;
  • ensure the safety of each child;
  • help children to gain from the social experience of being part of a group; and
  • provide children with opportunities to learn and help them to value learning.

Food

Snacks

Honywood Preschool make snack time a social time. Snacks provide the children with healthy and nutritious food. We happily work with families to cater for your child's dietary needs.

Lunch club

We operate a lunch club Monday to Thursday 12 noon till 1.00pm. Lunch club is extremely popular with the children who attend, giving them the opportunity to prepare for primary school routines and develop close friendships within a smaller group. Parents provide a healthy packed lunch and we ask that lunches do not contain nuts (e.g. nutella, nutty cereal bars etc.) or sweets. Lunch club must be booked termly and will incur an additional cost. Alternatively, lunch club can be included within your child’s Government funding entitlement (15 hours a week).

Clothing

Honywood Preschool provides aprons for the children when they play with messy activities although we do prefer children to attend wearing old clothes. We encourage children to gain the skills that help them to be independent and look after themselves. These include taking themselves to the toilet and taking off, and putting on, outdoor clothes. Clothing that is easy for them to manage will help them to do this.
