The Pre-AP Program

The Hoboken Public School District is proud to announce the launch of a Pre Advanced Placement Program. The Pre-Advanced Placement Program will be available to all Hoboken High School students starting in the 2021-2022 school year. The Pre-Advanced Placement Program is designed to give all students the opportunity to obtain foundational knowledge and skills needed for mastery of Advanced Placement and other college-level coursework.

Pre-AP is based on the following two important premises: The first is the expectation that all students will successfully engage in rigorous academic coursework. The second is the non-negotiable expectation that all students will be prepared for higher intellectual engagement.

How does Pre -AP differ from AP? Pre -AP courses are embedded with instructional strategies that specifically target middle and junior high school students, providing the knowledge, concepts, and skills needed to engage in a higher level of learning that prepares them for the rigor of Advanced Placement coursework and college.
