Pixar Animation Studios, commonly known as just Pixar, is an American computer animation studio known for its critically and commercially successful computer animated feature films. But don't you think that we, as students, can also create our own animation? The answer is unquestionable!
In fact, there are a lot of ways to create animations. One of them is stop-motion animation. Stop-motion animation is animation that is captured one frame at time, with objects that are moved between frames. When you play back the sequence of images rapidly, it creates the illusion of movement.
The basic process of animation involves making a still image of your objects or characters, moving them slightly, and taking another still image. When you play back the images consecutively, the objects or characters appear to move on their own.
You can use a flip book to try to make an animation!
In our STEAM lessons, students will first learn the concepts of how the stop-motion animation can be made. Then, under our theme values, e.g. respect, empathy, they will start to brainstorm their designs on papers. After that, by using an online stop motion making platform, they can create their own images one by one which fits the theme values. Eventually, the images can be played continuously to show their wonderful animation.
