Kāhu and Pīwakawaka
Kāhu
Kahu is a Year 5 & 6 class.
Pīwakawaka
Piwaka is a Year 7 & 8 class.
In the senior school at Hinds School the focus is on bringing learning to life through exploring, empowering and challenging students. We aim for our students to leave Hinds School as capable and confident learners, as well rounded individuals who have strong dispositions and can embrace challenge and opportunity. Our year 7/8 students are given exciting authentic learning opportunities and our programme is tailored to suit their needs. The senior students are supported to become reflective, organised self- managed learners. Their leadership skills are developed and they have a sense of shared ownership in the life of Hinds School. They contribute as citizens to the greater community. The senior students collaborate with the teacher to plan a week long camp each year and other ETOC events throughout the year.
INQUIRY: Our inquiry focus is based around our structures theme.
In our inquiry our overarching theme is structures. We are currently looking at definitions for what a structure is and the big ideas behind patterns. We are immersing ourselves in all natural and manmade structures around us and then digging deeply into specific structures, for example the structure of atoms and molecules and the human body structures.
HOME LEARNING
Below are the apps that we have set our students up on. Their logins are all on an E-learning passport that they have created in class this also contains links and QR codes for the websites that the are using. These are the direct apps that we have endorsed for classroom use. Any other apps or social media that your child is using needs to be supervised by parents.
