Hinds School was established in 1881, and today encompasses the local communities of Ealing, Maronan and Lynnford and Lowcliffe. We are a rural full primary school (Y0-8) located in Mid- Canterbury, supported by a strong rural community. We celebrate the diversity of your community with over 10 different ethnicities.
We focus on bringing learning to life through exploring, empowering and challenging our students. We strive to be the best they can be.
The school has a strong focus on quality teaching and learning through its Core Beliefs – Foundation Learning Skills (Literacy and Mathematics); Students as Powerful Learners; Rich, Relevant, Real Curriculum; and Teachers as Coaches/Mentors. The Hinds School dispositions and strategic goals help guide the Hinds Curriculum delivery framework and how we nurture the holistic development of each child, working from a strength base of knowing our learners and working with them for success in learning.
Hinds School began their journey towards Te Ao Maori in 2019. In 2021 we gained level 3 Te Reo Immersion where Te Reo is immersed in our daily programme across the full curriculum. Students participate in weekly Reo lessons and Kapa Haka. As a staff we are on a learning journey with our tamariki working towards utilising te reo in the classroom 35% of our day.
We invite you to join us with our learning as a visitor, volunteer or prospective family.
