During this week students will participate in a Socratic Seminar on three lessons(26, 30, and 35). The preparation for this will be done in class and for homework. The Socratic seminar will focus on one of the following essential questions: What are environmental challenges your generation must face? Three supporting questions from the unit of study will be Lesson 26- How does shrinking water supply affect humans around the world?"or 30. China: The World's Most Populous Country How does a country meet the challenges created by a large and growing population? and/or 35. Antarctica: Researching Climate Change at the Coldest Place on Earth - "How might global warming affect the environment in the world’s coldest places?"
The Socratic Seminar will take place on Friday. The homework will be creating notes for the Socratic Seminar . Each day of the week we will focus on one of the essential questions with a different mini-lesson. The only work for the week will be completing the notes for the Socratic Seminar.
Essential questions for the week:
Lesson 26- How does shrinking water supply affect humans around the world?
30. China: The World's Most Populous Country How does a country meet the challenges created by a large and growing population?
35. Antarctica: Researching Climate Change at the Coldest Place on Earth - "How might global warming affect the environment in the world’s coldest places?"
Lesson 26- How are humans affected by changes they make to their physical environment?
30 - China: The World's Most Populous Country
How does a country meet the challenges created by a large and growing population?
examine the challenges created by a large and growing population.
analyze the steps taken by China to meet its challenges as the world’s most populous country.
investigate ways in which rapidly growing countries around the world might address the challenges created by their expanding populations.
35 - Antarctica: Researching Climate Change at the Coldest Place on Earth -
How might global warming affect the environment in the world’s coldest places?
discover why Antarctica is an ideal place for a wide variety of research, especially that concerning climate change.
examine how climate change may be affecting Antarctica’s temperature, ice shelves, and penguin populations.
investigate how climate change could affect the rest of the world.
