Welcome to 7th Grade Social Studies Class! I hope everyone had a fantastic summer and is now ready to jump into the new school year. Our focus for seventh-grade social studies will be exploring the captivating world of geography and incorporate the study of Civics.
At the start of each week, I'll be sending out emails with essential information for the upcoming week. These emails will include a link to our lesson/unit webpage, where you'll find details about the week's homework assignments and helpful study guide links.
Students will be switching between science and social studies every other week. Parents, you can expect to hear from me on a bi-weekly basis to keep you in the loop. To wrap up each week, we'll have an assessment to gauge our understanding of the material. I'll provide all the specifics in our class expectations and procedures, which will be distributed on the first day of class and posted on this week's webpage.
The homework this week will be the Primary Source Assignment found in google classroom. This will also count as our assessment for the week and will be due on Friday. The rest of the week will be a review of map skills and geography.
SS.Geog1.a.m Use paper and digital maps to ask and answer geographic questions (e.g., Where are there patterns? Why there? So what?). Analyze how various map projections distort shape, area, distance and direction (e.g., Mercator, Robinson, Peters).
