Formosan Rock Macaques are one of the endemic species in Taiwan. They can be found from flat lands all the way to high mountains above 3,300 meters high. Formosan Rock Macaques are diurnal animals. They tend to live in social groups. When facing threats from the enemy, the macaques shake the branch fiercely, making a threatening gesture with its wide mouth. Thanks to the effectiveness of conservation, the number of macaques in Taiwan has increased recently and they have become a common species.
