HGS Core Maths
Course Overview
Core Maths is intended for students who have passed GCSE Mathematics at grade 4/5 or better, but who have not chosen to study A level Mathematics. Studied in a single year, it can be taken alongside A levels or other qualifications, including vocational courses.
Core Maths has been designed to maintain and develop real-life skills. It can be applied on a day-to-day basis in work, study or life. It will also help with other A Level subjects, in particular with Science, Geography, Business Studies, Psychology and Economics.
Studying Core Maths helps students develop their quantitative and problem-solving skills. This is valuable preparation for many degree courses, particularly in subjects such as psychology, business-related courses, sports and social sciences, and natural science courses that do not require A level Mathematics.
