Mr ¨ANt ¨ TEnna wants you to learn about time manegment <3
Quote from Michael Altshuler.
For many centuries, time management has been a serious issue., because some people do not have it. Time management is the ability to use your time effectively or productively. Let's say there are triplets living in a house, having the same exact things they need to do. Each of them needs to study for a math test which is in 3 days, play Geometry Dash, work on a presentation for ELA which is due in 3 weeks, get a drink of water, and study for a spelling bee which is tomorrow. Now, how will these three people deal with it?
Kris has always been a gamer. When he got these tasks, he decided put them in this order:
Play Geometry Dash.
Get a drink of water.
Study for the spelling bee.
Work on a presentation for ELA.
Study for a math test.
Kris had fun, but couldn't play Geometry Dash in summer because he was at summer school. He does have a good taste in games, though.
Susie has always been a hard worker. She has never gotten below a 90 on a test. When she got these tasks, she carefully put them into this order:
Study for the spelling bee.
Study for a math test.
Get a drink of water.
Work on a presentation for ELA.
Play Geometry Dash.
Susie had thought about the order. She got the things coming up first, then got a drink of water, since it only takes a short amount of time. After that, she worked on the far away presentation, and played the best game of all time.
Burghley is decent at managing his time, but has a few issues here and there. When he got these tasks, she carefully put them into this order:
Get a drink of water.
Study for the speling bee.
Study for a math test.
Play Geometry Dash.
Work on a presentation for ELA.
The list is fairly decent, and playing Geometry Dash before working on the presentation is fine; the presentation is due at a time much farther away.
Now, let's see some statistics about time management!
82% of people don't use a time management system! It's a shocking number, really; that's over 6.5 billion people!
Managers have an average of 3 hours spent daily on distractions, while employees experience around 60 daily interruptions. This one is also shocking; if each interruption takes 3-6 minutes, this is around 4 hours of wasted time!
75% of students procrastinate regularly. Yes, you heard me right; three quarters of an average school waits until the very last minute to do work!
Because of bad time management, only 21% of employees actually feel productive. Yes, it's because of how they manage their time! The girl in the image seems to be a prime example of being angry at poor time management... 🤔
How do you know if you have poor time management, and what are some causes of it, anyways? We'll go over that right now!
Procrastinating is when you do things at the last minute. Always do things as soon as possible!
So much work at once feels impossible. Try to never get yourself in this situation!
It really does make sense, though. The stress from having so much work is unmatched! Try doing work earlier to avoid this.
This one is common, but always know that due dates mean a lot!
What are the causes of poor time management? Well, they include:
Lack of prioritization
Postponing important tasks
Bad understanding of the length of a task
Distractions and interruptions
Lack of planning
But it's time for the main reason you're here; how do we fix it? Well, they include:
Use the 1-3-5 strategy [Do 1 big thing, 3 medium things, and 5 small things]
Have NON-NEGOTIABLE tasks on your calender
Avoid multitasking
Limit distractions such as your phone
Break big tasks into small, digestible chunks
What if I had poor time management? Well, first, I'd make sure not to multitask; it does save time, but the quality of work... it's absolutely horrible. Therefore, DO NOT multitask!!! We also DO NOT want to avoid tasks. If we leave it all until the due date, we have to cram 4 hours of work into 30 seconds. At that point, just take the zero grade and move on. But you shouldn't get yourself into that situation anyways!
