Module 3

The focus for module 3 is the central role of student discourse in the K-12 NGSS classroom. It is designed to provide 2-3 hours of work and asks learners to create something new to use in their teaching practice. There are three questions driving our work together in this module:

• Why is it important to engage all of our students in science talk?
• How do students engage in talk during science in your classroom (what protocols, norms, or framing do you use)?
• How would you like students to engage?
