Woodland's Visual Arts program has many choices, beginning with Comprehensive Art. Check out the different options below, with Comprehensive Art as the prerequisite course for each upper level course.
This course introduces art history, art criticism, aesthetic judgement and studio production. It emphasizes the ability to understand and use elements and principles of design through a variety of media, processes, and visual resources. Coursework explores master artworks for historical and cultural significance.
As a reminder, comprehensive art is a pre-requisite for all other art classes except photography. This means you must take this class prior to the other art classes.
This course is an introduction to photography. Students will create a photographic portfolio as they learn the technical and artistic aspects of photography. Digital photography will be included.
** Students are required to have a camera which they can change the aperture. Camera apps on a phone are not permitted.**
This course introduces a variety of printmaking techniques using processes such as relief painting (monoprint, callograph block), intaglio processes (etching and engraving) and serigraphy (silkscreen films, stencils, blockout). Coursework will explore a variety of two and three dimensional fine art crafts.
