Announcement of the winners
The Platoon of the Year Competition is a year-long competition held by the MCJROTC Program. Four platoons compete against each other in various categories. Cadets may earn points for their platoons by earning good grades, participating in community service events, attending JROTC field trips, joining a JROTC team (Drill, Color Guard, Academic, Marksmanship, or Moto), getting promoted, and becoming a cadet of the Marking Period. Cadets lose points for their platoon if they have multiple absences, behavioral issues, or poor grades. Platoons create teams of cadets to compete against each other in a 25-point Academic quiz (based on MCJROTC Level I questions), a Marksmanship competition (shooting 10 scored targets in the prone position), a Physical Fitness Test (consisting of pull-ups, push-ups, crunches, and a timed one-mile run), a Drill competition (completing a drill card), and finally, a Tug of War competition.
