Stage Fright Heads to the National Finals of Band Quest
Competing at Band Quest this year our four bands gained a number of outstanding awards.
On the 23rd of August, four bands from He Tīwai Mātruaranga Heaton Normal Intermediate competed in a Band Quest Heat held at Shirley Boys High School.
All of the bands performed with enthusiasm, energy and stage presence. They had a fun night and a number of our bands came away with group or individual awards from the evening. Stage Fright, one of our Year 7 Bands took the supreme award for the evening scoring 1st place. This means they are now able to enter the national finals and compete to be the national champions against 37 other bands from around the country. This is a huge honour and a great opportunity for these young musicians.
It was an outstanding evening. We are very proud of all our bands and the way that they have developed this year. A big thanks needs to go to Matt Hall, our tutor, and Sam Colvin, our teacher in charge of bands, who does all the work behind the scenes to make these groups happen. Also thank you to all the parents who support their children and came along to support our bands on the night.
