2025 AUDITIONS- WEDNESDAY 5th & Thursday 13th FEBRUARY

If you are a Year 7 or 8 student and would like to be involved in the orchestra this year then you need to fill in the form below. If you are new you will need to audition. If you were in the orchestra last year then you do not need to audition.

 please fill out the form below to apply for the orchestra. You will need to do this by Monday 12th at the latest.

Orchestra Form 

The orchestra audition timetable will be available on the school notices, up on the PAC notice board and will be posted on this site. Some auditions will be held on the 5th Feb and the rest will be held on the 13th Feb. Please make sure that you check when you need to come to see Ms Olivier in the Music Room. To audition you will need to play one piece of music you are familiar wih. 

If you have any questions please come and see Mrs Hill in the PAC. 

The first orchestra rehearsal will be posted in the school notices.

End of Year Music Soiree

Music Soiree July 6th 2022

Even though COVID has meant that we have had restrictions over the past two terms for rehearsals and time together the Orchestra managed to persent a fantastic evening of music. They played a number of different items to entertain an enthusiastic audience of friends and whānau. Mr Oswin who leads this amazing group continues to produce a high standard of musical skill and entertainment.

We have a wonderful evening of music and singing on the 1st of December. Many itinerant students the orchestra and chamber groups played as well as the chorale

Musical Soiree - July 2021

Orchestra Plays at our Celebration Assembly

On the 14th April we had our Leadership Celebration Assembly. This is an assembly during which our leaders for the year recieve thier awards. As musical items our orchestra played two pieces Riders in the Sky and Battle Pavane by Susato.  Here are some videos of the performance. It was a great performance for the orchestra's first term of work.

Celebration of Learning

At the end of September the school orchestra played a number of pieces in our celebration concert. They started with the

Theme from Star Trek: First Contact - Jerry Goldsmith (1929 - 2004) and this was followed by

Star Wars Medley - John Williams (b. 1932 )

Welcome to our orchestra for 2018. Our conductior and tutor Mr Oswin is very keed to work with you all again this year.

If you would like to be involved in the orchestra this year and are new to the school or you want to audition could you please fill out the form below and you will be allocated an audition time with Mr Oswin.

The auditions will take place on Wednesday 7th and Wednesday 14th of February. The times will be listed on the Performing Arts noticeboard in the PAC and here on this page.

Don't forget audtions for new any new students to Heaton are today Wednesday 15th Feburary. If you were already in the Orchestra last year or auditioned at the end of last year you do not need to audition again. Orchestra will start next week on Wednesday so keep and eye on the notices to see when you need to come over to the PAC.

Auditions- Wednesday 15th February

The orchestra audition timetable is available on the school notices and is up on the PAC notice board. Please make sure that you check when you need to come to see Mr Oswin in the PAC kitchen. If you have any questions please come and see Mrs Hill in the PAC.

Orchestra auditions will start next week.  This involves meeting Mr Oswin who is our orchestral tutor and then playing a short piece for him which you prepare from something which you know already.

The auditions will be happening on Wednesday 15th of February after interval. There is a google form to fill out or you can come and get a paper copy form from the PAC, or Mrs Hill.  These need to be completed by Friday the 10th February

The timetable for the auditions will be posted in the notices, but also on the PAC noticeboard outside the PAC on Tuesday 14th February.
