Financial Aid

The Free Application For Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is the financial aid form that parents must complete and process in order to apply for Federal Aid.  Since aid is limited, you must meet the deadlines.  The earliest you can apply is December 1 and for some aid, it is first come, first serve. The last date for submission is by 11:59 p.m. Central time (CT) on June 30, 2024. Any corrections or updates must be submitted by 11:59 p.m. CT on Sept. 10, 2024.  Keep in mind that colleges may have their own deadlines.

How Financial Aid Works

Students will need an FSA ID and one of your parents will need a separate FSA ID. Your FSA ID is linked to your Social Security number and is your unique identifier. It serves as your legal digital signature and should only be used by you. Your FSA ID is your account username and password.

Your FAFSA helps your school determine the types of federal student aid you are eligible to receive.

What makes up a financial aid package? The four types of aid is: grants (free money that does not have to be repaid), student employment or work study (gives you the opportunity to earn money to help pay for your educational expenses), scholarships, and loans ( student loans are real loans that nee to be repaid with interest). The net cost is the EFC or Expected Family Contribution, and the gap of unmet need.
