Flex is an elective class available as a means to support student course loads. The first 20 minutes of class is spent reading silently. The remainder of class time is intended for students to work quietly on class work from any of their classes. During this time, students may also meet with teachers from various disciplines on campus to seek additional help with assignments, take make-up tests, etc.
6th Grade Flex Only
During the first trimester of 6th grade Flex, in lieu of working on homework, students will have lessons on binder and backpack organization, time management, study skills and Chromebook use.
Students are expected to arrive to class with the material required to read silently for 20 minutes. This means they should have a book to read BEFORE arriving to class.
Students are also expected to have a plan as to how they will spend the remainder of time on school-related work. "I have nothing to work on," is not acceptable.
Trimester grades will be based on student work during the reading and homework portion of the class.
