Ceramics at Crocker is an introductory course covering basic methods of hand building, including pinch, slab and coil techniques. Students will learn the vocabulary of Ceramics, methods of surface treatment, fundamentals of firing and glazing, and will have the opportunity work on the potter's wheel.
Projects will become more challenging as the term progresses, with every lesson building on material previously covered. This is a studio class and students are expected to use in-class time to work on assignments that follow guidelines and objectives communicated by the teacher.
The process is as important as the product!
In addition to in-class reminders, we will use Google Calendar to keep track of assignment due dates. Every student will be added to the class's calendar. A copy of the calendar can also be accessed here.
Trimester grades will be based on two categories: Projects and Daily Classroom Maintenance.
