Students at every high school can earn college credit through the JumpStart program, a partnership between HCPSS and Howard Community College (HCC). In addition to selected courses offered at HCPSS schools, many introductory and advanced courses in the arts and humanities, business, and social sciences, math, world languages, science and technology may be taken at HCC. Talk to your counselor for a list of courses that fulfill your high school graduation requirements.
*To participate in Jumpstart students must have a cummulative 2.0 unweighted GPA or greater. Dual enrollment is not recommended for all students. Please talk with your designated counselor to see if Jumpstart is right for you. Other prerequisites may apply.
Students have plenty of time to explore the Jumpstart program. The new cycle begins April 1. There is no specific college deadline for registering for classes though students who register early will have a better selection of sections to choose from. See your counselor and your HCC and Jumpstart Liaisons for more information.
