Kickoff

There is no separate kickoff event for the 2nd quarter. Teams will begin working with EPB to construct the holiday window. See details below to schedule your work times.

The Big Reveal - Optional But Really Awesome Event!

Mark your calendars for the Big Reveal Event when EPB unveils the holiday windows for the entire city! Attendance is optional but I hope you’ll plan to attend and invite your family and friends to see what you helped make!

Location: EPB Downtown Headquarters

Free parking in the EPB parking garage (located on 10th Street side of the building)

Date/Time: Monday, December 4th / 1:00 - 2:00 PM

The EPB warehouse building is where you will work with EPB to build the holiday window displays.

Directions: For mapping purposes, use 1105 E 10th St as the building address. For your convenience please enter the complex from 10th and Central Ave which will be closest to the building across the road from the fraternity/sorority houses.

Note: In the event the E 10th St gate is not open, you may also enter and exit the operations center at 1350 E 8th St.

Accessing the EPB Holiday Windows Work Schedule

View Shift Schedule on Google Calendar

Follow these steps to view the signups in Google Calendar:

  1. Open Google Calendar in the web browser (not the Google Calendar app)

  2. On the left side, find "Other calendars" and click the down arrow .

  3. Select Add by URL.

  4. Enter this URL address in the field provided; http://signup.com/go/PdaRdwT

  5. Click Add calendar. The calendar will appear on the left side under "Other calendars."

Attendance and Unexcused Absences

  • It's very important to attend your scheduled work time. Mrs. Love depends on you being there for the times you sign up for. If you must modify your schedule after you sign up, please email Mrs. Love at lovear@epb.net and Mr. Kranz at kranz_k@hcde.org.

  • Failure to attend your scheduled work time will count as a missed meeting with a PBL sponsor and treated accordingly per the intervention chart.

STEM Student Commitment Expectations (as stated in the commitment form submitted by each team)

  1. Arrange transportation to and from the EPB Operations Building.

  2. Work a minimum of 3 hours per week between Oct 18th and Nov 18th.

  3. Provide a weekly schedule for your team to Mr. Kranz and the EPB Project Sponsor (via the Google Calendar schedule)

  4. Give sufficient notice to Mr. Kranz and the EPB Project Sponsor of any changes to your schedule.

  5. Arrive on time and work as part of the EPB team on the project.

  6. Complete normal STEM III requirements (weekly prototype report, etc.).

  7. After completion of the window display, prepare a final team presentation that identifies three challenges (one per person) that you encountered and discuss how the EPB and student team resolved the challenges. This presentation will be evaluated using the critical thinking rubric.

Note: The calendar time zone defaults to UTC time which is four hours later than EST and, as a result, may appear incorrectly on your device. However, the times in the shift title are correct (e.g., 5:30pm-9:00pm)
