Siskin Children’s Institute is a nonprofit organization that achieves its mission through community partnerships, support, and donations. For over 70 years they have worked to improve the lives of children with special needs. STEM students will be working with Siskin’s outreach program to make adaptable toys for children with special needs. Generally, these toys are far too expensive for families to justify buying, so Siskin and STEM have partnered together to create adaptable toys for children with all types of special needs. For the school partner, the focus is on creating a supply of all different types of adaptable toys and gyms for their outreach clients. For the STEM School, the focus is on the collaboration and critical thinking skills demonstrated by the student teams.
