Accessible Menstrual Products

In Spring 2022, HCC alum and former Student Trustee JG launched a menstrual equity initiative called "HCC Cares About M.E." Since it's launch, we have supported and collaborated on the initiative, which provides free menstrual products around campus. Now, we are committed to continuing the initiative after JG's graduation from HCC and insuring that free menstrual products are accessible to members of our HCC community.

Hunger-Free Campus Initiative

In February 2023, we signed MassPIRG's Hunger-Free Campus Initiative Student Government Resolution supporting the Hunger Free Campus Act in Massachusetts. The resolution states that "the Massachusetts statehouse should pass a Hunger-Free Campus Act, establishing a statewide Hunger-Free Campus Program to support schools in understanding and addressing food insecurity on campuses; and offering grants to schools to address food insecurity by raising awareness of hunger on campus, connecting students-in-need to existing services, and establishing services such as an on-campus food pantry where such services are needed."

Tuition and Student Fees

We meet with the Vice President of Administration and Finance every year to review the costs of an HCC education. In 2023, we discussed the impact of a proposed 4.3% increase to the educational services fee would have on students, student services and the college.

Open Educational Resources and Textbook Affordability

We have worked for more than 5 years to encourage more faculty to adopt free or low cost textbooks. This year we are working with MassPIRG and the MA Student Advisory Council for more OER resources across the state.
