Want to be involved at the college? It's never too late. We are accepting applications!
We meet every Thursday from 2pm - 3:30pm in CC227H (Student Engagement). These serve as our weekly meetings to report committee activity, talk about service hours opportunities, and have discussions with administrators. Open to the public, these meetings serve as a great foundation for students, faculty, and staff to elevate their voices to bring awareness to issues facing the campus community.
Voting in the Student Senate is restricted to Student Senators only. To become part of the Student Senate, prospective students can apply here. Our meetings can be joined via Zoom here.
Our chief strength in the Student Senate is our volunteering. Whether it be helping for a club event, ushering guests around, or setting up and or taking down events, the Student Senate prides itself in being a helping hand.
Have an event or program that you'd like the Senate's participation in? Reach out to us! We'd love to help. Alternatively, feel free to reach us by our extension: x2522.
Like many organizations, whether it be public, governmental, or private, a lot of work is done in committees. Here at HCC, it's no different; the college has a wide variety of public committees under the HCC Shared Governance Model.
For our tenured Senators, each one is required to participate in atleast one committee. It's important that students are represented in the everyday business of the college. Committee reports are delivered each Thursday during our Senate meeting when applicable. Interested in seeing the full list of Committees at HCC? Expand the arrows below to see more.
Student Senate Committees can be formed on an adhoc or standing basis, and usually revolve around a particular area of focus. These committees are open to all students, staff, and faculty, with minimal to no voting restrictions.
College Committees are designated by the HCC Shared Governance Model, covering a particular area of focus within the college. Each committee is made up of its own voting membership, which consists of staff, faculty, adjuncts, and Student Senators. While these meetings are open to the public, voting is restricted solely to Committee members.
