By default, students learning from home will see the classroom video. To show your computer screen to students instead, click "Present now" in the lower right portion of your screen. Students will no longer see the video of your classroom but instead will see what is currently showing on your laptop screen. They will still be able to hear the audio from your classroom.
To record your class/meeting, click the "Record meeting" option from the vertical three dots in the lower right portion of the screen. When done, select the same menu and select "Stop recording". Your class/meeting will be saved to your Google Drive.
Can I change the name of my Meeting Owl? No. The Meeting Owl's name must stay the same for tracking purposes.
Is there a way to manually control the camera so I can point/tilt/zoom it to a certain location? Yes. You can download the meeting owl app from the iOS App Store or Google Play Store to your mobile device. This should be done on an as-needed basis only, however, as the Meeting Owl is capable of auto-centering on a person who is currently speaking. If you feel you need to manually access the cameras for manual control, please contact support and we will provide you the PIN.
Can I take my Meeting Owl home or otherwise remove it from my classroom? No. All Meeting Owls need to stay in the classroom where they were originally placed.
Each Owl Pro is mounted on a tripod to provide a stable base. If you'd like to discuss the possibility of removing the Meeting Owl from the tripod, please contact helpdesk@ravenscroft.org.
The Meeting Owl Pro has its own integrated 360° tri-speaker and microphone. DO NOT plug in your wall-mounted classroom speakers when using the Meeting Owl Pro.
DO NOT use your wall-mounted speakers
There are two cables coming from the Owl. The first cable is the power cable and the second is the USB cable. We have provided a longer power extension cord and Active USB extension cable to provide maximum flexibility. The power cable should be plugged in to the closet electrical outlet. The USB cable should be plugged into your laptop.
We will be using Gaffers Tape to tape the cables to the floor to minimize the hazard of cables on the ground. If you need to adjust the placement of the Owl in the classroom, please email your school's IT Department Help Desk.
If you have any issues with your Meeting Owl or have any questions about the operation of your equipment, please don't hesitate to contact Helpdesk using the portal or via helpdesk@ravenscroft.org. We will assist you as soon as we are able.
