There are two cables coming from the Owl. The first cable is the power cable and the second is the USB cable. We have provided a longer power extension cord and Active USB extension cable to provide maximum flexibility. The power cable should be plugged in to the closet electrical outlet. The USB cable should be plugged into your laptop.
The Meeting Owl Pro has its own integrated 360° tri-speaker and microphone. DO NOT plug in your wall-mounted classroom speakers when using the Meeting Owl Pro.
DO NOT use your wall-mounted speakers
We will be using Gaffers Tape to tape the cables to the floor to minimize the hazard of cables on the ground. If you need to adjust the placement of the Owl in the classroom, please email your school's IT Department Help Desk.
Each Owl Pro is mounted on a tripod to provide a stable base. If required, you can remove the Owl from the tripod and unscrew the tripod mounting plate from the Owl. Be sure to place the mounting plate back on the tripod to avoid losing it.
Yes, dongles! As many of us will be teaching in multiple classrooms, it is important to pay attention to the dongles available. Every classroom should have a Mini Display Port Adapter.
Mini DisplayPort Adapter - One in every classroom
If you received a laptop in the last year that ONLY has a USB-C connection as its only port, you will need to bring that with you for each classroom you are in. These were checked out to the individual teacher and not the room.
USB-C Adapter - Checked out to individual faculty
It is recommended that you connect your laptop to the wired network using a network cable from the phone or the wall. You will need your wired USB dongle. You can just connect your laptop to the wireless network but our recommendation will always be to wire your laptop.
Connect your laptop to the projector or display. Power on the projector or display in the classroom and continue to the next page.
