Veteran & Military Resource Center

Kapi‘olani Community College (Kapiʻolani CC)  is a state-approved institution for veteran education benefits. After you apply to Kapiʻolani CC and are accepted, we have a Veteran & Military Resource Center (VMRC) here to help you navigate the VA Education Certification process. 

The VMRC at Kapiʻolani CC is designed to act as a liaison between the students and The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). VA determines eligibility, processes payments, and issues checks to all veterans and their dependents.  The VMRC is located in ‘Iliahi 112 and provides support to student veterans, active duty military, and their spouses & dependents who are eligible for military service connect education benefits. The center provides services such as general counseling, outreach, academic advising, course certification, and a dedicated space to study, use the computer, and network.

System Outage: December 11, 2025 – January 2, 2026

What’s happening: The University of Hawai’i will soon begin a project to upgrade the Banner Student Information System (SIS). To make this transition possible, the SIS and its connected systems (including STAR and Lamakū) will be temporarily unavailable. MyUH will also be replaced with a new interface, Self-Service Banner 9.

Plan ahead: Submit your ECR form on or before the priority deadline, December 1st. During the upgrade, School Certifying Officials (SCOs) will not be able to submit certifications to the VA. ECR Forms submitted after the priority deadline will still be processed, but please expect a delay in your VA education benefits. 

UH Students will be allowed to register for Spring 2026 classes even if they have an unpaid balance from the Fall 2025 semester. See the Temporary grace period announcement here.
