SPEDucator Connection 2021

THANK YOU!

Mahalo to everyone who spent their Saturday with us for this event! We appreciate being able to connect and collaborate with such a diverse group of participants! We loved seeing teacher candidates, general and special education teachers, administrators, parents, other school and district personnel all in the same room! The recordings from today's event will be shared in the "Event Agenda" section of this website as they become available.

Apologies for the technical snafu during the SPED Topic breakout rooms. We had to make some last- minute changes and therefore we do not have recordings of each session as a result. But we will brainstorm other opportunities for how we can share that information and will contact everyone on the RSVP form with an update once we can figure something out! And again, thank you to everyone for being flexible and patient as we navigated through this experience.

Lastly, we appreciate any and all feedback as we hope to host more opportunities for connection and collaboration in the future!

Session 2: Special Topics in Special Education

SINCERE APOLOGIES! We originally planned to have different zoom links for each session to cut down on the amount of time it would take to put everyone into breakout rooms, but we were unable to use that design because every time we opened up a new room, it would close out the previous room (we could only host one at a time). Therefore, we know many of our participants had gotten kicked out of their original rooms and so we had to quickly adjust and implement breakout rooms instead. With these changes we were not able to record any of our breakout sessions. Our sincerest apologies!

Disclaimer: These session topics are not meant to serve as formal training or professional development that has been endorsed by the HIDOE. The information shared include insights from the perspective of classroom special education teachers on the following special topics. Our goal is build community and knowledge around our field, in support of a broad and diverse audience. We were thankful to have had an opportunity to share information about special education with the many student teachers, general education teachers, special education teachers, other district and school personnel, administrators, and parents who attended this event. Thank you!
