Here is information on preparing to register for UHM classes:
Work with your home campus academic advisor to identify UHM courses you may take while on exchange that will transfer back and apply to your degree.
View the Class Availability for your intended exchange semester, which will include information such as course title, day, time, location, instructor, credits, and number of seats available. For course descriptions and prerequisites, click on the 5-digit CRN (course reference number) and then click on details (blue link in the middle of the page).
If you need course syllabi for your home campus to evaluate the transferability of UHM courses you wish to take, please contact the appropriate department/instructor, as listed here.
We recommend that you attend the following webinars (or view the recordings, which will be send out afterwards): Preparing for Registration Webinar and How to Register Webinar.
UHM courses which have a prerequisite will require an override from the appropriate department/instructor in order to register for them. To check for prerequisites:
Locate the course in the Class Availability
Click on the CRN (5 digit, blue hyperlink; second column from the left)
Click on “Details” next to “Course Information”
Under the course title will be a course description and at the end of the description there will be “Pre” if the course has prerequisites.
** It is the student's responsibility to request necessary prerequisite overrides. It is recommended to start requesting override approvals as soon as possible because it may take some time for instructor/departments to respond to your request. Please click here for a list of who to contact for possible overrides by department. You may then use this template to request overrides from the appropriate instructor/department.
NSE students do not have an official major declared at UHM. Therefore, you will not be able to register for courses that have major restrictions. In such cases, you’ll need to contact the instructor/department to request an override. Please click here for a list of who to contact for possible overrides by department.
For more information on preparing for registration, please watch the recording of our webinar on this topic.
