What materials will you need for your project?
A makey makey
What is your plan to create in this project?
I want to create a piano
What unique qualities will your project have?
It will be out of some food
This is the coding for the drum set.
This is a video of a piano we made out of play-doh.
Reflection
Description of Creation
We created a drum set. It was made of Play-Doh. We connected wires to the makey makey and could play the drum set by pressing each piece of Play-Doh. We also made a 5 note piano once we were done with the drum set.
Description of what we learned
I learned while doing this project that to make the makey makey work, there is a wire that you have to hold close to the Play-Doh or else it doesn't work. Before we didn't even know that we had to use the wire. It was continuously not working but we figured it out eventually.
Description of the standards
The standard the project ties to are computer programmer because we programmed the makey makey to make drum set sounds and a piano to make each note sound. Another standard is digital citizen. I choose this because I created a website showing all the work that we did over 5 days.
Description of challenge we overcame
One of the challenges was figuring out how to connect a speaker to the makey makey. We eventually connected the makey makey to a Chromebook and used the speakers on that. It worked out fine in the end.
Description of Something We Might've Done Differently
One of the things we could've done differently is we could have labeled each sound in the drum set. When we were playing it, we had to guess which one created which sound. It would have been easier to have them different colors or labels.
CTE and career connections
The CTE would be computer programming. This is because we programmed the makey makey using code. The career connection could be creating drum sets.
