I will be working by myself
What materials will you need for your project?
A Micro: Bit, computer, and MakeCode.
What is your plan to create in this project?
I plan to code 6 different projects.
What unique qualities will your project have?
It will have my name for the first project and will be coded by me.
Day 1
Today I made the page for project 3 on my website. Then I came up with my list of ten and answered my planning questions. After that I looked at a few videos.
Day 2
Today I made a name badge with my first name. I had to take a video of the Micro bit and picture of the code.
Day 3
Assembly
Today I tried to make a turtle but ended up creating a Camel. I had a little trouble getting the pictures in but figured I it out.
Today I made a sting of letters to remind you of your ABC's. I could not add the video so I left it for tommorow.
Day 7
Today I created a dice using the Micro: Bit. Once I finished that I created a Emotional Micro: Bit
Day 8
Today we started rapping everything up and finishing pasting our last projects. I made a game where you shake the Micro: Bit and it gives you directions to go.
Day 9
Finished Everything.
Project 1: Name tag
Project 2: Camel
Veiw a tiny
Project 3: Learn your ABC's
You can sing along as the micro: Bit shows you the alphabet.
Project 4.: Dice
Shake the Micro: Bit to get a random number for whatever you need.
Project 5: Emotional Badge
Click a button to see what the Micro: Bit is thinking.
Project 6: Micro quest
Let the Micro: Bit lead you on a side quest when your bored by following the arrow until you feel the need to shake the Micro: Bit again and get a new direction to walk in.
Using MakeCode, a Micro: Bit, and the computer, I created a camel because I thought it would be cute. Some other things I created is a dice, a name tag, and a handheld walking game. I also made an emotional badge and the ABC's.
During this process, I learned how to use a Micro: Bit. Before this I did not know what a Micro: Bit was or how to use one.
The 7 standards of the class are Empowered Learner, Digital Citizen, Knowledge Constructor, Innovative Designer, Computational Thinker, Creative Communicator, and Global Collaborator. My project ties to Innovative Designer because we used other peoples ideas and changed them for a similar but different outcome .
A challenge I overcame on this project was getting the videos in to the website. I was able to overcome my challenge by exploring the different reasons it could have been not working and trying again till I got it correct.
Given a chance to do this again, I would change the camel to be walking instead. I would also get rid of the ABC's and do a different project all together. The reason why I would change the camel is because I feel like you didn't actually get to see the camel for very long which is sad. I would change the ABC's because I feel like it was very basic and there was more potential to do something better.
Hastings High School Career and Technical Education Program offers Agriculture, Business Management, Computer Programming, Construction Trades, Culinary Arts, Digital Multimedia, Engineering Design, Finance, Insurance, Marketing. My project connects to the Computer Programing CTE program at Hastings High School. This project connects to Computer Programing because we had programed a Micro: Bit to do different tasks and things.
My project connects to careers in Software engineering because we had coded the Micro: Bits.
