Are you working by yourself or in a team?
I'm working in a team.
What materials will you need for your project?
iPad, Legos.
What is your plan to create in this project?
We are going to have a group of characters hiking then they cant cross the river or cross a mountain so they build a bridge and help each other up the mountain.
What unique qualities will your project have?
No one is doing the same project as me.
i filled out the planning sheet for the project.
we started playing around with the background and made the cloud.
we finished the river.
we built the wood and had the characters start to build the bridge.
we built the bridge and the characters crossed it.
we decided to have them help each other climb a mountain as they continued their hike because our video was too short so we started to build the mountain.
Using stop motion, and legos, I created two characters trying to cross a river and hike up a mountain. They had to work together to build a bridge and pull each other up the mountain. I did this to show a positive social decision.
During this process, I learned it is hard to do stop motion projects without two people. It's much easier to have someone holding the iPad taking pictures and the other person moving the legos. I had to do both on the days my partner was gone and it definitely made us have less pictures than the day before.
The 7 standards of the class are Empowered Learner, Digital Citizen, Knowledge Constructor, Innovative Designer, Computational Thinker, Creative Communicator, and Global Collaborator. My project ties to empowered learner. This is because an empowered learner I thought up an original story about people helping each other and then used iMotion to make my story and achieve the goal that i had.
A challenge I overcame on this project was having to work by myself. My partner was gone for a few days of the project so it was hard to hold the iPad and make sure the characters didn't fall over at the same time. I was able to do it by using an iPad stand so my iPad would stay in the same spot.
Given a chance to do this again, I would change our project. The reason why I would change it is because the characters wouldn't stay standing when we had them crossing the bridge and when they were "walking" into the river. I would change it to something where the characters could stay at ground level the whole time.
Hastings High School Career and Technical Education Program offers Agriculture, Business Management, Computer Programming, Construction Trades, Culinary Arts, Digital Multimedia, Engineering Design, Finance, Insurance, Marketing. My project connects to the ______________ CTE program at Hastings High School.
My project connects to careers in stop motion animation. This is because they manipulate objects and puppets a different way in each frame to tell a different part of the story. I did this too just with legos instead of puppets.
