Are you working by yourself or in a team?
I'm working by myself.
What materials will you need for your project?
I will need my iPad, micro bit, and micro bit coding site.
What is your plan to create in this project?
I will use the coding app to code to my micro bit to make it play flappy bird.
What unique qualities will your project have?
my project will be unique because it will basically have a mind of its own not just controlled by a boring code.
I got my micro bit and coded my name to show on it.
I played around with some different things and watched tutorial videos to narrow down what I wanted to do for my project.
today I watched videos of making the micro bit interact with sound.
I decided to start watching tutorials on how to play rock paper scissors with the micro bit. Day 5 update: I lost my progress from yesterday so I decided to just restart and make flappy bird as my final project.
started following the instructions for flappy/crashy bird and started the code.
Day 6 part 2 of day 5:
I didn't finish any code for my micro bit today but it should be almost done/done tomorrow.
Almost done with my code. It cant quite play crashy bird yet but it is very close.
day 7 movie
Pretty close to finishing my project. A couple more codes left then im done.
Finished my code!
Reflection questions
Using iPad, micro bit, and micro bit app, I created a micro bit that could play flappy/crashy bird. I wanted a way for someone to actually play a game and not have to watch the computer do it for you. I was very successful and you can play it using the buttons on the micro bit.
During this process, I learned that coding is kind of hard. I had to keep trying easier codes until I could figure out what I could do that was easiest for me. After I tried easy codes I got the hang of it and did a more complicated one which is now my final project.
The 7 standards of the class are Empowered Learner, Digital Citizen, Knowledge Constructor, Innovative Designer, Computational Thinker, Creative Communicator, and Global Collaborator. My project ties to knowledge constructor because I watched and used other peoples tutorials. Using other peoples codes I was able to also build my knowledge on the rules of the game of crashy bird.
A challenge I overcame on this project was doing the code itself. I realized that I wasn't amazing at coding and it was kind of confusing. I was able to do it by watching tutorials and working on easier codes till I figured it out.
Given a chance to do this again, I would change the code I picked. The reason why I would change it is because the code was very difficult and I almost didn't finish it. I was able to finish it but I had to work on it at home a little bit.
Hastings High School Career and Technical Education Program offers Agriculture, Business Management, Computer Programming, Construction Trades, Culinary Arts, Digital Multimedia, Engineering Design, Finance, Insurance, Marketing. My project connects to the computer programming, CTE program at Hastings High School. This is because I programed my micro bit to say my name, play crashy bird, and play various other games with it.
My project connects to careers in video game developing because they use platforms to design games using different codes. In Video game developing you have to try smaller projects before finding a bigger one to complete. I did the same thing just on a smaller scale.
