I coded a dice going from 1 to 100 onto my micro bit.
I coded the game snake onto my micro bit.
I coded the game Tetris onto my Micro Bit.
Using a micro bit I created multiple projects, including Tetris and Snake, using the computer because I found it interesting to code popular games onto the micro bit. I also created rock, paper, scissors, which I made with a friend and we played against each other. I chose this project because I thought it would be fun to interact with others on the micro bit.
During this process, I learned how difficult it is to put code onto the micro bit. You have to first choose a project, the easiest way to do this is to use a tutorial on the micro bit site. My first creation was my name showing up on the micro bit, I was able to figure it out by searching through the input section. I figured out how to do most things through tutorials though.
The 7 standard of the class are Empowered Learner, Digital Citizen, Knowledge Constructor, Innovative Designer, Computational Thinker, Creative Communicator, and Global Collaborator. My project ties to empowered learner because I had the freedom to choose what I wanted to create. I had the option to complete all my work and stick with it, or to abandon projects. I also learned from watching videos and doing interactive tutorials.
A challenge I overcame on this project was downloading the code onto the micro bit. I was able to do it by finding the download button on my computer and finding the instructions. Another challenge I overcame was learning how to use shake to start on my dice project. I fixed this problem by searching through the pink input section.
Given a chance to do this again, I would change my tetris and snake projects. The reason why I would change it is because I only did the bare minimum for these projects and wish I dived deeper into their coding. I may have also changed the way my tetris game blocks animation played. Instead of a line by line, I should have cleared the blocks in a diagonal pattern,
Hastings High School Career and Technical Education Program offers Agriculture, Business Management, Computer Programming, Construction Trades, Culinary Arts, Digital Multimedia, Engineering Design, Finance, Insurance, Marketing. My project connects to the computer programming CTE program at Hastings High School. This is because I independently coded a piece of technology. I did my coding and programming from my school computer. I think that this project was a very fun week of coding.
My project connects to careers in computer programming because I coded the micro bit freely by myself, from a computer and onto a piece of technology. This connection to computer programming could also lead to connections in AI. I very much enjoyed doing computer programming.
