Using Tinker Cad, a 3-D printer my computer and an iPad, I created a mini trash can because I need a trash can for things on my bed stand. I used my iPad to make the video. I used Tinker Cad to design my project.

During this process, I learned how to design things that will be exactly printed. I also learned how to be very precise when designing. Another thing i learned was how to make a usable hinge on the 3D printed item.

The 7 standards of the class are Empowered Learner, Digital Citizen, Knowledge Constructor, Innovative Designer, Computational Thinker, Creative Communicator, and Global Collaborator. My project ties to Innovative Designer because I designed it on a 3D design website. Another class standard it could tie to is Global Collaborator because i took screenshots and put on a website anyone could see.

A challenge I overcame on this project was making the design stable. I was able to do it by taking of and adding the snap grid for precise movement. Another problem was making sure that the design met the requirements to be printed.

Given a chance to do this again, I would change my design. The reason why I would change it is because it wasn't big enough to be of any use. I would also change the size of the lid so it would fit better.

Hastings High School Career and Technical Education Program offers Agriculture, Business Management, Computer Programming, Construction Trades, Culinary Arts, Digital Multimedia, Engineering Design, Finance, Insurance, Marketing.  My project connects to the Engineering Design CTE program at Hastings High School.  It connects to this CTE program because I designed my project.

My project connects to careers in Graphic design because you had to be very accurate. I also connects to this job because you had to repeat lots of steps to finish your design. Another reason is because you had to align parts of the project to other parts.
