Planning Questions
Are you working by yourself or in a team?
I am working by myself.
What materials will you need for your project?
I will need an iPad, modeling clay, and a stand for the iPad.
What is your plan to create in this project?
I am planning on creating a short 3-5 minute stop
motion video.
What unique qualities will your project have?
My project will tell the story of clay pieces and
their story of being saved by the littlest one.
Using an iPad and modeling clay, I created a stop motion video because I wanted to try my best at making a video in this style. Practicing this skill was difficult, but I am overall pleased with the end result. I thought it would be easy, but I found myself mistaken. That being said, I did enjoy this project and watching it form into a story.
During this process, I learned that stop motion videos really test your patience. This project caused a roller coaster of emotions to overwhelm myself and (from what I observed) some of the people around me. It takes a lot of time to work on and finish up, for if you want to create even a 3 minute video it takes nearly 1,000 photos. Towards the end of the project, however, I noticed I looked forward to working on it a lot more than I did in the beginning.
The 7 standards of the class are Empowered Learner, Digital Citizen, Knowledge Constructor, Innovative Designer, Computational Thinker, Creative Communicator, and Global Collaborator. My project ties to Innovative Designer because I planned and created my project by myself. My project was completed without the assistance of anyone else.
A challenge I overcame on this project was having the problem of the photos rearranging themselves. I was able to fix it by restarting the project. Although this isn't really fixing it, it wouldn't have mattered anyways because I ended up changing the idea of my movie a bit. I didn't like how it was going, although I did learn that I could just fix the order of the pictures in iMovie.
Given a chance to do this again, I would change the fact that I went into it having almost no clue what I was going to do for the project. The reason why I would change it is because I think that the video could have came out better than it did. Although, I am mostly satisfied with the result of my video. I just can't help but wonder what it would've looked like if I had it fully planned beforehand.
