Daily Log:
Day One- I worked on coming up with 10 good ideas for my video project
Day Two- I looked on Google Chrome and found some good pictures of Australian Labradoodles that I thought looked like my dog Yoshi.
Day Three-I emailed pictures of Yoshi to myself before school and saved them to my iPad, and then I added them into my video. I also found some music and added a cheerful song to the background of my movie.
Day Four-I decided to change my video idea to an "All About Me" video instead of "Why my Dog is Depressed"
Day Five-I emailed pictures of Marvin (My dad's puppy) and myself to me before school, and typed some words/captions in my video, and then did a voiceover and wrapped up my video.
Reflection
Using iMovie, a microphone, pictures from my camera roll, and Google, I created a video about myself because I wanted to test my editing skills and see what I could accomplish with an editing app. I have edited videos before, but I never really tried very hard and it was more of putting in emojis and zooming in on the face at funny times. This assignment really gave me a chance to try harder at editing and think about what I was putting into the video and why.
During this process, I learned how to use Ken Burns. Before this project, I had never even heard of Ken Burns. For me, zooming in just looked like splitting a part of the video and zooming in, so it didn't even have the effect and it jumped right to it being closer, rather than zooming in. I think the Ken Burns effect helps make your video more interesting, and I really wish all editing apps had this feature because I enjoyed using it.
The 7 standards of the class are Empowered Learner, Digital Citizen, Knowledge Constructor, Innovative Designer, Computational Thinker, Creative Communicator, and Global Collaborator. My project ties to Innovative Designer, because I decided how I was going to construct this video project, and I made my own decisions on how it was going to look.
A challenge I overcame on this project was finding the right pictures for the different sections of my videos. I was able to do it by finding some of my own photos and using those, as well as finding a few pictures based off of the general topic in my video. Oddly enough, I really struggled with this one. I honestly thought that this would be the simple part, but I was proven otherwise!
Given a chance to do this again, I would change the way I sounded during the voice over. The reason why I would change it is because I think the video would be more interesting if I changed my tone a bit. My voice sounded kind of bored, and I think I would've sounded better if I sped up slightly, but I think the good part of the audio is that I moved my voice up and down so it didn't sound monotone.
