Planning Questions
Are you working by yourself or in a team?
by myself
What materials will you need for your project?
a micro bit, my ipad and a computer
What is your plan to create in this project?
I plant to create unique designs
What unique qualities will your project have?
Day 1: I made my website deidcated to this project
Day 2: I figured out how to do a beginner code
Day 3 i learned another code giving it emotion
Day 4: i made a magic 8 ball, i had to go into java to give the text a different speed
Day 6: I am learning how to use pins
Using a micro bit, my ipad, and the Microsoft micro bit website, I created multiple mini projects. Those mini projects were a video of my name where I made my name go across the screen. I made my micro bit show emotion. I also made my micro bit a magic 8 ball. I made these fun projects because it was a great way to introduce myself into coding.
During this process, I learned to make sure my coding was one-hundred percent correct before testing. I ran into multiple issues with the coding not correct. Even if it was a tiny little mistake the whole thing would not work. It showed me to be confident and certain in my coding.
The 7 standards of the class are Empowered Learner, Digital Citizen, Knowledge Constructor, Innovative Designer, Computational Thinker, Creative Communicator, and Global Collaborator. My project ties to computational thinker. It ties to this one specifically because I had to program the boards and then fix issues that came along the way. This made me problem solve using technology.
A challenge I overcame on this project was figuring out the light code. It was a challenge because no matter how many times I re-did the code it wouldn't work. I had even used parts from a different person and something wasn't working. I decided to re-do my code a completely different way , made it a little more complex and it finally worked.
Given a chance to do this again, I would do a little more complex coding. My codes/projects were more on the simpler designs. I feel as if I was going a little easy on myself, and not challenging myself as I should've been.
Hastings High School Career and Technical Education Program offers Agriculture, Business Management, Computer Programming, Construction Trades, Culinary Arts, Digital Multimedia, Engineering Design, Finance, Insurance, Marketing. My project connects to the computer programming CTE CTE program at Hastings High School. It connects because it involves using a code to program the circuit.
My project connects to careers in computer programming. It connects because it requires us to write and code a circuit board. For this career I'll need to be able to code for devices like this one because it's very important in the tech industry.
