Are you working by yourself or in a team?
by myself
What materials will you need for your project?
computer
What is your plan to create in this project?
I plan to redesign my fidget
What unique qualities will your project have?
my project will be professional and fix the old problems
Day 1: i made my website, and started to design my project
day 2: i starting think about which project i wanted to revisit
day 3: i removed the key caps, and added another key spot
Day 4; I decided to add another one and I started to 3d print
Also day 4: i started to 3d print
Day 5: my project failed 3 times sadly, so I have to restart. 4th times the charm!
day 6: i started my reflection questions
This is my final project. One of the fidgets printed a little weird like on eof the keys started to curve so the key cap isn't able to go in all the way.
Using tinker cad and my old project. I created a new and improved fidget. I chose to revisit this project because I knew exactly what I needed to do to improve. To improve my project I would remove the key letters. I removed the letters because it felt uncomfortable to type the letters. I also added another key because my pinky finger felt it had nothing to do so I added another one.
During this process, I learned how to replace the filament/understand the 3d printer a little better. I learned how to replace the filament and how to purge it, in case anything goes wrong again. I also learned to temper with the 3d printer settings. I also learned easier ways to remove the extra filament/extra supports on the final project. Last time it took me a long time to remove the supports so that added extra time.
The 7 standards of the class are Empowered Learner, Digital Citizen, Knowledge Constructor, Innovative Designer, Computational Thinker, Creative Communicator, and Global Collaborator. My project ties to being a knowledge constructor. It connects to being a knowledge constructor because I am actively building and understanding my work through design and experimentation. My project also ties to being an Innovative designer. I am being an innovative designer because I designing and prototyping.
A challenge I had during this project was making sure the filament wouldn't break. Either the filament would break or wouldn't stay in the dispenser. My project had failed to print 3 times, at this point I wondered if it was ever going to work. Jackson had showed me how to properly replace the filament and the multiple ways I could mess with it. So every time I reprinted my project I made sure to purge the filament.
Given a chance to do this again, I would change the clicker design. I would change the design to like an avocado where the pit is the clicker, or to a more cute design because I feel the design is a plain and boring. I would've loved the design to be something I could paint or color and put it as a keychain on my backpack. So I could mess around with the shapes on tinker cad.
Hastings High School Career and Technical Education Program offers Agriculture, Business Management, Computer Programming, Construction Trades, Culinary Arts, Digital Multimedia, Engineering Design, Finance, Insurance, and Marketing. My project connects to the construction trades CTE program at Hastings High School. It connects to the Construction Trades because I am doing hands on projects. My project also ties to the Engineering design. It connects to the Engineering design program because researching my project, and making physical protypes.
My project connects to careers in design and art. So careers like industrial/product designers, fashion/jewelry designers. The reason is connects to these careers is for jewelry. I'll need to be able to use 3D printing to create intricate and customized light weight designs. My project also connects to being a 3D printing technician. I'll need to able to run printers and understand how they work to work in this industry.
