As a student at Hastings College you’re an important part of our history and traditions. Some are fun, some are silly and some are retired. What will it mean for you to be a Bronco? What traditions will you create?
Welcome Home
Held the first two weeks in the fall, this fun tradition helps familiarize all new students with campus life at Hastings College. In an informal atmosphere, students meet members of the administration and faculty, as well as returning students who represent campus organizations.
Homecoming & Family Weekend
This is one of the biggest and most exciting times of the fall term! There are a variety of events for students and alumni. the crowning of Homecoming royalty, a parade, home athletic events and the popular Homecoming Dance.
Lighting of the Campus
After returning from Thanksgiving break, you’ll catch the Christmas spirit back on campus! The campus celebration begins with the Lighting of Campus, which is when buildings in the central campus area are lit with thousands of twinkling lights and the College’s president reads ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas. Musical events and sing-a-longs, cookies and a visit from Santa will put you in the spirit of the season.
Boar's Head
At this formal, sit-down dinner you’ll be served by faculty, staff and administrators. You can’t beat asking for more desserts from the professor who’ll give you your first final a few days later! Pre-dinner festivities include Christmas music, the traditional walk through the candle-lit dining hall by a student carrying something interesting on a platter and a special rendition of a holiday classic by your student body leadership.
Destress Fest
Destress Fest is a series of events at the end of each semester, designed to help students unwind, connect with their peers, take study breaks, and relieve stress.
Welcome Back
Welcome Back is a mini version of Welcome Home that takes place at the start of spring semester to welcome students back to campus after Winter Break.
Bronco Bash
Bronco Bash is one of the most loved events on campus! There is a large sand volleyball tournament, inflatables to enjoy, a variety of yard games, tasty food trucks and so much more. This is a great way to kick off the end of the year celebrations.
May Fete
This long-running, student-planned event dates back to May 1, 1910. Over the years, it’s became the most popular spring event on campus. It traditionally includes a special dinner, dance, the presentation of the May Fete Court and a variety of fun Broscar awards. (our version of the Oscars) It’s all the pomp and circumstance you’d expect!
Involvement Fairs
Whether you are interested in getting leadership experience, making friends, or preparing for life after graduation, a good first step is to get a feel for what opportunities exist on campus. The Involvement Fair offers an opportunity for student groups, departments, and campus partners to show our HC students what they're all about. Hastings College hosts two Involvement Fairs a year. These are the biggest ways for student groups to promote what they do and for students to get involved on campus outside of the classroom.
Academic Showcase
Held every April, this is a campus-wide celebration of the academic success! Classes are canceled for the day and you’ll have an opportunity to learn from your peers as they present highlights from the research they completed or insight they gained while studying abroad or taking a mission trip. The sciences, communications, business, English, religion, fine arts and more are on the docket — and someday that could be you in front of students, faculty and staff who join in.
