2024 Summer Camp

HMS MI-Trades was a partnership between the MI-Steam Network, our community, and our students.  Our middle school students built: Nesting Shelves and Playhouses.  Individual(s) from the trades worked with our students/campers from Saw Dust Express Sawmill, Hastings Wastewater Treatment Plant, the Hub of Barry County,    Kensington Concepts, Windemuller, and Affordable Metal Roofing. 

Our middle school students learned from professionals in the field.  They learned how to get started in the field, and the Certifications or licensing they need.  We also learned about the investments in skill-specific tools. 

Students learned mathematical concepts utilized in each trade, including pitch and area in roofing, as well as many other skills.  They also practiced their understanding of measurement and fractions as we built the bat boxes and playhouses.
