Oh the joys of histology! Anatomy students either love or hate the subject, but regardless of how you feel, histology is crucial for human survival. In unit 2, we will learn how the structure of different tissues directly relates to their function in our body. Assessment of tissues will be through visual identification of slides on the virtual histology lab. See link below for access to Dartmouth's medical school's virtual histology lab. You cannot spend enough time studying histology slides, so grab a cup of your favorite brew and settle down for the long haul....enjoy!
Goal 6. To be familiar with the major histological types of which the body is comprised.
6.1 The student will be able to identify by description, image or microscopy, the cellular arrangements and characteristics of the major tissue types.
6.2 The student will understand the unique features of each major tissue type, as well as, their locations and functions.
6.3 The student will demonstrate an understanding of the interdependence of the four major tissue types in the structure and function of organs.
