Harding Academy uses Ruvna to send announcements via text messaging and email.
To ensure you receive urgent SMS safety alerts, your mobile phone number must be listed as a Wireless number in your CompassNet parent profile. Our emergency system cannot route text alerts to numbers designated as "Home" or "Business."
Please follow these steps to update your contact card:
Log in to CompassNet and access your Profile (or Contact Card) by clicking your name in the top-right corner.
Scroll down to the Phone section.
Update your number using the appropriate option:
To add a new mobile number: Click the + Add phone button, enter your number, set the type to Wireless, and click Save.
To change an existing number to Wireless: Click the Change phone types button at the top of the box, change the dropdown label next to your number to Wireless, and click Save.
To update the digits of an existing Wireless number: Click the Pencil (Edit) icon next to the entry, update the phone number, and click Save.
Make sure that any emergency contacts for your students are entered as wireless.
Navigate to your child’s profile in CompassNet and locate the Emergency Contacts section.
Click Edit to open the contact management window:
Check Phone Types: Verify that each contact’s mobile number displays as Wireless (e.g., Wireless: 919-323-9394). If a number says Home or Work, edit the entry and switch the type to Wireless.
Check Active Status: Ensure all intended guardians and caregivers appear in the Active list. (If a contact is missing, click Edit active list to add them).
Click Save.
To keep our school community safe and informed during urgent situations, emergency text notifications are sent through our alert system from shortcode 36598.
We have noticed that some mobile carriers (including T-Mobile, Verizon, AT&T, and prepaid providers) automatically block 5-digit shortcode numbers by default or filter them as spam. As a result, critical safety alerts may be blocked by your network before they reach your phone.
Please follow these steps to ensure your device is setup to receive emergency notifications:
Step 1: Opt-In via Text
Send a text message with the word START to 36598.
If you or a family member previously replied "STOP" to a system notification, this will clear the carrier block and re-enable alerts.
Step 2: Check Your Device Block Settings
iPhone: Go to Settings > Messages > Blocked Contacts and confirm 36598 is not listed.
Android: Open your Messaging app, tap your profile icon or the three dots in the top corner, select Spam & Blocked, and verify 36598 is not blocked.
Step 3: Call Your Mobile Provider (If alerts still do not arrive)
Dial 611 directly from your cell phone to reach customer service.
Ask the representative to turn off "Shortcode Blocking" or "Short Code Restrictions" on your line.
