Project SEARCH Process:
Family/Teacher/Counseling/Nurse Completes the Dual Application (Ft Eustis and Sentara)
Feb 15: Submit application and all required paperwork to shildebrandt@hampton.k12.va.us
March 1: Student/Parent will be called for an in-person interview
April 1: Status letter will be sent to the family/student: Acceptance is required.
Before the End of the Year:
The case manager calls for an IEP amendment meeting: New placement/adjust goals/ accommodations / transition activities.
Invite DARS Counselor of given program to the IEP with consent.

DARS will move Student to a VR Caseload
Before July 1: Transportation is through Paratransit-DARS sponsored.
Families initiate Paratransit Application and then notify transition specialist.
DARS Counselor/Vendor will ensure Travel Training for the student and Paratransit is set up for the
July 1: Program Advisor must confirm that the student has not exited school. They should be reentered as an active student, in the school/district EFE/Project SEARCH class.
Data to support Students attending Project SEARCH after the year starts
Shared Doc: offers suggested annual goals and transition activities supported by the program- Please use, adjust, or create goals based on individual need.
Now What? My student is heading to Project SEARCH
Case management does not change and the student remains an active student.
The course for the following year is EFE/Project SEARCH

Student follows the Newport News School Schedule regardless which site they are selected for.
